Kim Dorste is a printmaker, painter and surface pattern
designer living in Boulder, Co with Dave, her husband of 32 years. She has been
a professional artist for nearly 20 years and a seamstress for over 40. When
she isn’t making art, her favorite place to be is outside soaking up the sun
while skiing, hiking, sailing and traveling.
Kim loves to create her own unique patterns. For example, on
a trip to the French Quarter in New
Orleans, she fell in love with art dolls she found in shops.
Upon her return home, she immediately created her own art doll and it became
the inspiration for one of her favorite surface patterns.
Beautiful mountain surroundings infuse her art and give her the
energy to create quirky and whimsical designs that are full of color. She tries
to thread her patterns together with a style and theme that is intriguing and
different. Her hope is that through her art she can help people realize that
they don’t have to take themselves so seriously!
“Life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a
well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out,
shouting, “Wow….what a ride!” Hunter
