Jana Nielson of Izzy and Ivy
Jana has spent her entire life around fabric and people that love sewing. She spent many days at the feet of her mother and grandma who loved to sew and also with her father in his upholstery shop. Her designing life didn’t begin until the age of 10 when she designed and constructed a line of prom and wedding dresses for Barbie and her friends. It was then that she had found her destiny! Because of her eclectic fashion style, Jana started altering and making her own clothing in high school. This led her to a major in costume design and art in college.
It wasn’t until after she was married, and had her first 3 children, that she developed a love for quilting. With a baby on her lap, toddler on her back, and one under the table running the foot pedal, she learned to piece quilt blocks. After her 6th was born, Jana, with her friends Shasta and Lauralee, started designing children’s clothing patterns. Their company is called Izzy & Ivy designs. Jana feels that designing fabric completes the circle in her obsession with all things sewing and fabric.
